Temples of Annapurna Devi

The most well-known temple dedicated to Goddess Annapurna is in Varanasi, U.P., India .  Adjacent to the Sanctum of the Goddess is the Kasi Viswanath temple. The two are separated only by a few yards.  Annapurna is regarded as the queen of Varanasi alongside her husband Vishweshwar (Shiva), the King of Varanasi.

In the temple, at noon time, food offerings to the Goddess are distributed to the elderly and disabled daily. During the Autumn Navaratri food is distributed on a larger scale.

The other famous temple is situated at Horanadu in the pristine western ghats of Karnataka,a short drive from Kudremukh and Sringeri, where evening prayers are held after the devotees are fed.

  • beejakshara mantra 10 Basic Steps to Perform Puja For All GODS

Puja is the act of showing reverence to a god, a spirit, or another aspect of the divine through invocations, prayers, songs, and rituals. An essential part of puja for the Hindu devotee is making a spiritual connection with the divine. Most often that contact is facilitated through an object: an element of nature, a sculpture, a vessel, a painting, or a print.

For performing Basic Puja which has specific pre-defined order and sequence, which we ought to follow is as follows.  In Hindu religion, Pooja and Anushthaan are important and sanctimonious duties which enable the native to attain prosperity, success, peace and enlightment.
    Pooja is of two types.

Saguna: This type of pooja is performed by married and family persons to fulfill their wishes or to gain some special things in life. It is mandatory to perform all the eight parts of the saguna pooja.

Nirguna: This form of pooja is used by saints or celibates. They can chant concerned mantra or offer prayers in any form of their liking or wishes.

    The Procedures of Pooja
1.Physical Purification: Sprinkle pure Gangajal (Water obtained from the sacred River Ganges) on your body.
    Mantra:
Om (Aum ) Apavitraha Pavitovaa Sarva-Vastaang Gatopivaa I
Yah Smaret Pundarikaaksham Sava Shyabhyaam Tarah Shuchi II

    2.Soul Purification:
To sanctify your inner soul, drink Gangajal spelling the name of any Hindu God.

    Aum (Om) Keshwaaye Namah
    Aum (Om) Naraanaye Namah
    Aum (Om) Maadhwaaye Namah
    Aum (Om) Hrishikeshaaye Namah

Clean your hands while chanting Aum (Om) Hrishikeshaaye Namah.

3.Purification of the seat: It is important to sanctify the place where we are supposed to sit and pray.
    Mantra:
Aum Prithvi Twaya Dhritaalokaa Devitwam Vishnunaadhrita I
Twam Cha Dharayah Maamdevi Pavitram Purichaasam II

4.Pavitri Dhaaran: We need to purify the blood flowing in our body. To do this, one needs to wear the ring made of Kush (Kind of Grass) or Gold in ring or middle finger.
    Mantra:
Pavitryaasthoh Vaishnabhyoh Sa Vi Turvaaha Pra Sha Ba Utpurnaa I
Mmyachidre Na Pavitre Na Surya Jasya Rashmibhihi
Tasya te Pavitraapate Pavitraputasya Yat Kaamah Pune Takshake Yamma II

5.Tilak Dhaaranam (In Hinduism, Tilak is a mark worn on forehead): Whenever we contemplate to do righteous works then we are grappled with numerous problems that delay our good work. Tilak is worn to avert these problems and help the native to obtain strength and mental stability to successfully carry out the homage.
    Mantra:
Swasti Na Indro Bridhdhha Sravaaha I
Swasti Na Haan Pookha Vishvwaa Vedaaha

    Swasti Nastaaraksho Arishtane Mehin
    Swasti No Vrihaspaatir Dadhaatu II

6.Suryaardhyam: Sun holds a very important role in our lives. This is because Sun was the only Lord who provided important rays to the mankind, ever since its origin. Sun has eradicated the darkness and ignorance of the nature and mankind.
    Mantra:
Aakrishne Narjasaa Vartamano Niveshayan Na Mrityour Martayash Cha I
Hiranya Ye Na Savitarathe Na Devo Jaa Tibhuvana Nippasyanna II

The whole environment gets lighted with the rise of Sun and this light also protects mankind from the darkness of ignorance. Sun is responsible for the social recognition and reputation; this is why we pray to him for happiness and peace by offering him the ardhya containing fresh water.
    Mantra:
    7.Pitree Ardhya:
    Mantra:
Aum Devatabhyaha Pitribhyash Cha Mahaoyge Vyayev Cha I
Namah Swadhaye Swahaye Nitya Mev Namo Namah II

The aforementioned pitree-kriya helps in the successful completion of all rituals concerning Sanaatan Dharm.

    8.Digrakshanam (Protecting the Directions)

To protect the ritual and yajna, one should sprinkle Yellow Mustard Seeds in ten directions and pray to the Lord of the respective direction. The prayer must be a form of request to protect the native and his righteous work. Following are the names of the Lords of the ten directions.

    1. Varaaha
    2. Garurdhwaja
    3. Padmnaabha
    4. Madhusoodana
    5. Govinda
    6. Janaardhana
    7. Shri Patihi
    8. Maheshwara
    9. Brahma jee
    10. Prithvi ( Earth)

    9.Swasti Swaagatam:
From time immemorial, Gods and Goddesses are welcomed by chanting sacred Vedic Mantra. However, the modern people wish to complete all this swiftly by chanting short words or chanting words in haste. Welcoming the revered, respected and worshipped Gods or Saints without any Vedic Mantra is considered wrong according to Vedic Sanaatan religious books. It is the general and important custom to greet or welcome through Vedic Mahaamantra.

    Mantra:
Aum aa no bhadrah kratavo yantu vishwaotodbdhaaso aparitaas udbhidah I
Deva no yathaa sadmid vridhe asannapraayuvo rakshitaaro dive dive II

Devanaam bhadra sumatirirjooyataam denanaam raatirabhi no nivartataam I

Tanno vaato mayobhu vaatu bheshajam tanmaata prithivi tatpitaa dhyoh I
Tad Gravanah Somsuto Mayobhuwastadashwina shrinutam dhishnayaa yuvam II

TAmishaanam jagadastasthukhaspatim dhiyannijanvamavase hoomahe vayam I

    Sholka:
Aum Tadev lagnam shudhinam ta deva I
Tara walam Chandra walam ta deva II

Vidya walam deb walam ta deva I
    Laxmi patete ghriguyoon smaraami II

    Vakratunda Mahaakaaya Suryakotee SamaPrabha
Nirvighnam kuru mey Deva, Sarva kaaryeshu Sarvadaa II
10.Samkalp (Pledge): There are two types of Samkalp

    a) Nishkaam Samkalp: This samkalp is devoid of any thoughts and wishes. And this  Samkalp is done from the curiosity of inner core.
    b) Sakaam Samkalp: Through this samkalp, we wish to eradicate the problems in our  lives. We tell our problems to God by mentioning our Zodiac (Raashee), Planetary   position of the day (Gochar), house and want the God top sort out those problems. Hindu    religion believes that there is power in mantra which can decimate our problems.

These steps are precursor to a successful pooja, especially for Saguna Pooja. Remember, you will get the benefic effects of a pooja only when every step (of the aforementioned ones) is performed in the way as described. However, not following them would not harm you but it would not be beneficial either.

beejakshara mantra Why should we follow VASTU - Principles

According to the old vedic science the vastu is the great science , one should follow to stay happy in their whole life...
     Vastu for Harmony

Vasstushastra is the art of living with natural forces in harmony and peace. It is a Science of fortune making, hence catches everybody's attention. Yogshastra is the mother of Vasstu Science. All concepts of this science find its principles in the theory of Yogashastra.

The theory is very simple : " Sky, ie, ether, is full of events". Events flow along the natural streams of energy. If these streams are blockage-free, impedence free and frictionless, one meets a positive network of events in life, which makes one fortunate." Hence Vasstu Science creates a cosmic envelope around you by using the art of orientation with some crystals, some plants, colours, prisms, pyramids, metals, water, stones and levels.

Astrology, Yogshastra and Vasstu Science, when used together give a good solution to all Vasstu faults without breaking, reconstructing and related troubles.

    Vasstushastra has Different Dimensions

    a. It deals and defines man's relationship with natural forces.
    b. It builds a beautiful bridge between inner spaces and outer spaces.
    c. It transforms voids into spalces, which are wombs of creation, care and comfort.
    d. It defines one's path effortlessly and overcomes hindrances and blockages.
    e. It creates a positive relationship between microcosm, (individual) and macrocosm (outer world). Little rectification in personal holistic alignment on the cosmic reference changes life's goals, destiny and end.

The basic elements of Vasstu being five great elements, eight directions, sun and moon streams, deities in Vastu Purush Mandal, study of vibrations, waves, sound and light, permutations and combinations of all these things, it is evident to say that it is a very complex subject. The great thinker, J Krishnamurty said, " Truth is a oathless land." In the same sense one can say that Vasstu is a path that connects your Being and Becoming by blessing c cosmic order.

Vastu shastra is the scientific study of directions that creates equilibrium by balancing the different elements of nature and using them for the benefit of humans. There is a great importance of Vastu shastra in our life, as it paves way for happiness and prosperity to knock our doors. Vastu is very rational in the sense that it is based on scientific study and not on assumptions. Also there is surety about its permanency, as it takes into consideration the directions, which are static.
    Keep reading for more.....

Read further to know why Vastu should be followed...

Talking about Vastu, the best part is that, its guidelines are very simple and easy to follow. It can be applied to virtually all sets of constructions, then be it a house, a particular room, temple, commercial complex, industry etc. Vastu extracts the positive energies of the five natural forces of nature, like solar energy of sun, lunar energy of moon, wind energy, magnetic effects of earth etc and balances them to bring harmony in the life of mankind. Consult a good Vastu expert and follow the advice sincerely and then open your arms to receive good luck, health and wealth.

beejakshara mantra JAINISM - Mahaveer Temple Peaceful Wallpapers

Jainism is one of the oldest religion of world. It believes in a cyclical nature of universe. Thus a universe without beginning, without end and without creator. Peaceful Wallpapers
The fundamental principles of Jainism can be briefly stated as follows.
    1. The first fundamental principle of Jainism is that, man's personality is dual, that is, material and spiritual. Jaina philosophy regards that every mundane soul is bound by subtle particles of matter known as Karma from the very beginning. It considers that just as gold is found in an alloy form in the mines, in the same way mundane souls are found along with the Karma bondage from time eternal. The impurity of the mundane soul is thus treated as an existing condition.

The second principle that man is not perfect is based on the first principle. The imperfectness in man is attributed to the existence of Karma in his soul. The human soul is in a position to attain perfection and in that true and eternal state it is endowed with four characteristics, viz., Ananta-darsana, Ananta-Jnana, Ananta-virya and Ananta-sukha, i. e., infinite perception or faith, infinite knowledge, infinite power and infinite bliss.
Even though man is not perfect, the third principle states that by his spiritual nature man can and must control his material nature. It is only after the entire subjugation of matter that the soul attains perfection, freedom and happiness. It is emphatically maintained that man will be able to sail across the ocean of births and achieve perfection through the control of senses and thought.

The last basic principle stresses that it is only each individual that can separate his own soul and the matter combined with it. The separation cannot be effected by any other person. This means that man himself, and he alone, is responsible for all that is good or bad in his life. He cannot absolve himself from the responsibility of experiencing the fruits of his actions. This principle distinguishes Jainism from other religions, e. g., Christianity, Islam and Hinduism.

beejakshara mantra Jainism - A Remarkable Religion Principles

    Early History of Jain Dharma

Jainism traces its roots to a succession of 24 Jinas ("those who overcome", or conqueror) in ancient East India. The first Jina is traditionally believed to have been a giant who lived 8.4 million years ago. The most recent and last Jina was Vardhamana (a.k.a. Mahavira, "The Great Hero") He was born circa 550 BCE) and was the founder of the Jain community. He attained enlightenment after 13 years of deprivation. In 467 BCE, he committed the act of salekhana which is fasting to death. Each Jina has "conquered love and hate, pleasure and pain, attachment and aversion, and has thereby freed `his' soul from the karmas obscuring knowledge, perception, truth, and ability..."

Jainism contains many elements that are somewhat similar to parts of Hinduism and Buddhism. The world's almost 4 million Jains are almost entirely located in India. There are about 1,410 in Canada (1991 census).

    Jainist beliefs and practices:

    • The universe exists as a series of layers, both heavens and hells. It had no beginning and will have no ending. It consists of:
    •  The supreme abode: This is located at the top of the universe and is where Siddha, the liberated souls, live.
    • The upper world: 30 heavens where celestial beings live.
    • Middle world: the earth and the rest of the universe.
    • Nether world: 7 hells with various levels of misery and punishments
    • The Nigoda, or base: where the lowest forms of life reside
    • Universe space: layers of clouds which surround the upper world
    • Space beyond: an infinite volume without soul, matter, time, medium of motion or medium of rest.
    • Everyone is bound within the universe by one's karma -- the accumulated evil deeds that one has done. (The Jainist definition of karma differs from the Hindu and Buddhist meaning. To a follower of Jainism, all karma is bad. To Hindus and Buddhists, karma can result from a good or a bad deed.)
    • Moksha (liberation from an endless succession of lives through reincarnation) is achieved by enlightenment, which can be attained only through asceticism.
Jainism is based on three general principles called the three Ratnas (jewels). They are:
    • Right faith.
    • Right knowledge.
    • Right action.
Jainism Principles are expected to follow five principles of living:
Ahimsa: "Non violence in all parts of a person -- mental, verbal and physical." 3 Committing an act of violence against a human, animal, or even a vegetable generates negative karma which in turn adversely affects one's next life.
    • Satya: speaking truth; avoiding falsehood
    • Asteya: to not steal from others
    • Brahma-charya: (soul conduct); remaining sexually monogamous to one's spouse only
    • Aparigraha: detach from people, places and material things. Avoiding the collection of excessive material possessions, abstaining from over-indulgence, restricting one's needs, etc.
    •  Jains follow a vegetarian diet. (At least one information source incorrectly states that they follow a frutarian diet -- the practice of only eating that which will not kill the plant or animal from which it is taken. e.g. milk, fruit, nuts.) They are not permitted to eat root vegetables because of the many living creatures that they contain. Also, to uproot a root vegetable kills it.
Jainism often read their sacred texts daily.
Jains are recommended to pass through four stages during their lifetime:
    • Brahmacharya-ashrama: the life of a student
    • Gruhasth-ashrama: family life
    • Vanaprasth-ashrama: family and social services
    • Sanyast-ashrama: life as a monk; a period of renunciation
    Divisions among "Jains"

There are two groups of Jains:
■The Digambaras (literally "sky clad" or naked): Their monks carry asceticism to the point of rejecting even clothing (even when they appear in public).
■The Shvetambaras (literally "white clad"): their monks wear simple white robes. The laity are permitted to wear clothes of any color.

beejakshara mantra Great Facts about the Great Saint Raghavendra Swamy

Mantralayam is the place where the great Madhwa saint Sri Raghavendhra Swami (1595-1671) went into Jeeva Samadhi pre-planned in front of a huge crowd of devotees in the year 1671.  He is believed to live in the Jeeva Samadhi for 700 years. Sri Raghavendhra Swami advocated Vaishnavism and the Dvaita philosophy advocated by Madhvacharya.
    • Sri Raghavendhra is considered by his devotees to be a reincarnation of Prahlada, the devotee who was saved by Vishnu in His Narasimha avatar. In his next birth he was Vyasaraja, the rajaguru of Vijayanagara empire and in his next birth was Guru Raghavendhra.

    • The place of Moola Brindhavan was selected by him because he conducted yagna at the very same place when he was Prahalatha.

    02-SREE RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY BHAJANALU2

    • Sri Raghavendhra got the boon from the Panchamukhi Anjaneyar for remaining on earth in non physical form for 700 years in his Brindhavan to bless people. 350 years have already gone and so we have another 350 years after which he is expected to merge with God. Even today it is said that the sound of Raghavendhra going for bath at the Tungabadra in the early morning hours and doing pooja for Moola Ramar is heard, especially in the month of Danur (Margazhi).

    • While going through Sri Raghavendhra’s life, it was interesting to know that he is more connected to Tamilnadu than to Karnataka:
      • He was born in 1601 in Bhuvanagiri near Chidambaram.
      • He studied under his guru Suseendhra Theerthar at Kumbakonam mutt and after marriage, he returned to the mutt and headed it.
      • Venkatanathan became Sri Raghavendhra, i.e., he got his Sanyasam at Tanjore in the year 1623-24 and stayed at Tanjore for 12 years.

    beejakshara mantra Naga Panchami-Festival Importance-Worshipping 5 SNAKES

    NAGA PANCHAMI (SNAKE FESTIVAL- NAGA)

Naga Panchami, or the festival of snakes, is observed on the fifth day of the bright lunar fortnight of the Shravana month of the Hindu calendar and is dedicated to the worship of serpents mentioned in the great Hindu Puranas( Sanskrit encyclopedic texts containing cosmogonic histories, legends of gods and heroes, and other traditional material). The five "Naga"s or snakes worshipped on Nag Panchami are Ananta, Vasuki, Taxak, Karkotaka and Pingala.

     Naga Panchami Short Story

It is widely believed that the fifth day of bright half of the Hindu month of Shravana provides special pleasure to divine snakes and this is the reason Naga Panchami is still widely celebrated all across the India. According to one of the mythical stories, once the Naga Loka got blazed due to the maternal curse and this immense pain of Nagas subsided on the day of Naga Panchami. It made this festival so widely known. According to Bhagvata, when the king Janmejaya started performing Naga Yajna to destroy all the snakes, on the day of Naga Panchami, the son of recluse Jaratkaru, Aastik, rescued and saved them. This is one of the reasons of celebrating Naga Panchami. In various places all across India, it is a tradition to make five idols of snakes each with the five heads using gold, silver or the wood pen. The divine snakes are worshiped with milk, Panchamrit and Kheer.

In its true sense, the festival of Naga Panchami inspires us to protect snakes. Every creature has its unique importance in preservation of environment and forests, and the snakes are one of the most pivotal creatures in this regard, and they are etched in over faith and tradition.

    1. Ananta - (SNAKE GODDESS NAME)

The thousand-headed AnantaNag or SheshaNag is believed to be the couch of Lord Vishnu. It is said that the Lord reclines on Shesh Nag to relax between the time of the dissolution of one Universe and creation of another. This posture of the Lord over the snake Ananta is called AnanthaSayana. The serpent's thousand heads rise as a canopy over the recumbent deity and is also said to hold up the earth. Known as Ananta(the endless), Shesh Nag is held to be the symbol of Eternity. During Nagpanchami, women worship Ananta ( thousand-headed Ananta is Vishnu's couch ) the cosmic snake in temples.

    2. Vasuki -  (SNAKE GODDESS NAME)

Vasuki is described as a great King of the nagas(snakes) who has a magnificient gem (Nagamani) on his head. Interestingly, Vasuki is mentioned not only in Hindu mythology but also in the Buddhist, Chinese and Japanese mythology. In Bengal, a custom of worshipping the female snake-deity Manasa still prevails and scriptures mention her to be the sister of Vasuki. The most prominent legend in Hinduism concerning Vasuki is the famous incident of Samudra manthan, the churning the ocean of milk. The snake king allowed the devas (gods) and the asuras (demons) to use him as the churning rope while they looked for the ambrosia of immortality. In Buddhist mythology, Vasuki and the other Naga Kings are seen to be amongst the audiences of many of the sermons of Lord Buddha. As the king of the snakes, their duty is seen to be leading their kinsmen in the protection, worship and honoring of the Buddha amongst the snakes and also to see that other enlightened beings are protected when in danger.

    3. Takshak -  (SNAKE GODDESS NAME)

The Hindu scriptures describe Takshak as one of the powerful ruler of the snakes who killed king Parikshit, the descendant of Pandavas. According to legend, king Parikshit once insulted a great sage while he was engrossed in meditation and was cursed by the latter that he will die of a snake bite. To avoid the fulfillment of this curse, Parikshit built his palace on a single pillar surrounded by water with the belief that no snake could reach him crawling through the water. Then Takshak took up the challenge to honour the sage's words. He shrunk his body and hid in an apple. Just as Parikshit was about to eat the apple, he sprang out of it to regain his original shape and bit the king. In indignation, the king's son, Janamejay, kindled a huge sacrificial fire and upon his order the royal priests chanted powerful mantras(sacred utterance) which made all snakes fall into the fire. It was only on the intervention of the wise sage Astik that Takshak and the surviving snakes escaped the mass annihilation and the sacrifice was stopped.

    4. Karkotaka - (SNAKE GODDESS NAME)

Described as a Nagavanshi king, Karkotaka was the divine ruler of the snakes who had deceived Narada and was cursed as a result. Because of this, Karkotaka could not move a step. When he got trapped in a fire one day and was about to be burnt, King Nal saved him. In gratitude, Karkotaka helped Nal to disguise himself so that he could win back his kingdom and reunite with his wife, Damayanti.

    5. Pingala snake -  (SNAKE GODDESS NAME)

Pingala is one of the names of the chief Nagas from the Adi Parvan. His name is related to the story of the "Four Great Treasures" mentioned in Indian as well as Buddhist literature. The "Mahavastu" mentions that the four great treasures are Sankha at Benares, Paduma at Mithila, Pingala in Kalinga and Elapatra at Taxila. Pingala is believed to be the guardian of the treasure hidden at Kalinga.

beejakshara mantra Mantralaya Raghavendra Swamy Suprabhatham-LISTEN-ONLINE

Mantralaya Raghavendra Swamy Suprabhatham, Dandakam, Listen on Every Thursday to get rid of all problems
    Incarnation of Sree Raghavendra

THE FIRST INCARNATION OF SRI PRAHLADA : ( A Short Story About Prahlada Great Devotee of Lord vishnu)

Sri prahlada was the dear son of sri lilavathi and Hiranyakasipu. Even while in his mother 's womb, he was initiated into worship of Lord Narayana,by the sage Narada .Ever since birth ,he had been absorbed in the repetition of Lord Hari's name. He had no thought of this world.

Hiranyakasipu, who considered Lord Narayana as his sworn enemy, did not like
his son's behaviour. He sent his son, Prahlada, to the teachers of the demonrace,
Chanda and Marka, in the hope of reforming him and educating him to be good
and virtuous. Prahlada had no taste for the kind of instruction imparted by his
teachers. He paid no heed to anything other than the meditation on the Lord.
He began to teach his fellow -demon pupils the greatness of praying to Lord

Narayana and led them to join him in singing the praises of Lord. Hiranyakasipu
sent for the boy and asked him to recite a verse which he had learnt from his
teachers.Thereupon ,the prodigy repeated a verse extolling the devine qualities
of Lord and the efficacy of praying to him in these words.
Those hands deserve the name that worship the Lord:
The tongue which praises the Lord, desrve to be called so:
The sight that beholds the Lord, deverse its name:

The head that bows to Seshasayi(one who reclines onthe serpent -
king Lord Adisesha) is fit to be called so:
He then affirmed fearlessly that his mind which was drunk with the nectar of
the meditation onthe Lotus feet of Lord(Narayana).could not rest on any thing
    else.

     The father then angrily demanded of him to say where Lord Hari is present ;
    The boy instantly replied;
"Donot dought the presence of the Lord in one place or another.Chakri (the
bearer of the wheel Vishnu) is present wherever you seek him in the world"

In the end, Hiranyakasipu subjected prahlada to many cruel tortures inthe hope
of making him giveup his devotion to Lord Vishnu. He caused the boy to be
trampled over by elephants. He had the boy thrown down the slopes of mountains, immersed in the ocean ,cast into a blazing fire ,bitten by venomous serpants and even made him partake of a cup of the vilest poison.Prahlada came out unscathed and undeterred, because of his abiding and unflinching
    faith in Lord Vishnu.

In utter disgust ,hiranyakasipu called his son and demanded of him to show his
god, whome he had descibed omnipresent,in an adjacent pillar.Prahlada humbly
but firmly agreed to do so .In his inveterato anger and arrogance,Hiranyakasipu
struck the pillar with his mace .Instantaneously Lord Hari emerged from the
    pillar, in the manifestation of the man -lion;

    "Satyam vidhatum nijabhritya bhashitam"
