Brihaspati Kavacham

Bruhaspati is also known as Deva-guru i.e guru of the gods.Bruhaspati is the god of wisdom and eloquence. Bṛhaspati is the name for the planet Jupiter & rules over the signs Dhanu (Sagittarius) and Meena (Pisces). Bṛhaspati also represents the balance of past karma, religion, philosophy, knowledge and issues relating to offspring. He is concerned with education, teaching and the dispensation of knowledge.

Brahaspati Kavacham has the power to fulfill all the wishes in life. One should listen or practice this kavacham for attaining education, knowledge, vastness, growth and expansion in life.

ANUSHTUP CHANDAH\, GURURDEVATA\, GAM BIJAM\, SHRISHAKTIH\,
The meter is anushtup. The God is Brahaspathi. The root is Gam. The power is Goddess Lakshmi.

KLIM KILAKAM\, GURUPRITYARTHAM JAPE VINIYOGAH |
The nail is Kleem. The chant is being done to please Guru.

AKSHAMALADHARAM SHANTAM PRANAMAMI BR^IHASPATIM || 1||
I salute sage Brahaspathi,Who fulfills our wishes,
Who knows everything,
Who is worshipped by all devas,
Who wears the garland of beads,
And who is peaceful.

KARNAU SURAGURUH PATU NETRE ME.ABHISHTADAYAKAH || 2||
Let Brahaspathi protect my head,
Let Guru(teacher) protect my forehead,
Let my ears be protected by teacher of devas,
And let my eyes be protected by he who fulfills wishes.


JIHVAM PATU SURACHARYO NASAM ME VEDAPARAGAH |
MUKHAM ME PATU SARVAJ~NO KANTHAM ME DEVATAGURUH || 3||
Let the teacher of devas protect my toungue,
Let my nose be protected by the expert in Vedas,
Let the all knowing one protect my face,
And let my neck be protected by teacher of devas.

BHUJAVA~NGIRASAH PATU KARAU PATU SHUBHAPRADAH |
STANAU ME PATU VAGISHAH KUKSHIM ME SHUBHALAKSHANAH || 4||
Let my hand be protected by Angeeras*,
Let my arms be protected by he who does good,
Let the master of speech protect my chest,
And let he who looks good protect my stomach.

NABHIM DEVAGURUH PATU MADHYAM PATU SUKHAPRADAH |
KATIM PATU JAGADVANDYA URU ME PATU VAKPATIH || 5||
Let my belly be protected by Guru,
Let he who does good protect my middle,
Let my hip be protected by he who is saluted by the universe,
And let the master of words protect my legs.

JANUJA~NGHE SURACHARYO PADAU VISHVATMAKASTATHA |
ANYANI YANI CHA~NGANI RAKSHENME SARVATO GURUH || 6||
Let the teacher of devas protect my thighs and knee,
Let my feet be protected by the soul of the world,
And let all other parts of my body be always be protected by Guru.

ITYETATKAVACHAM DIVYAM TRISANDHYAM YAH PATHENNARAH |
SARVANKAMANAVAPNOTI SARVATRA VIJAYI BHAVET || 7||
If this holy armour is read by men at dawn, noon and dusk,
They would succeed in all their acts,
And would gain victory everywhere.
