beejakshara mantra Ucchishta Matangi

Since I have been reading and trying to understand on a basic level the energies of Mahavidyas, my recent interest has been " Matangi" Mahavidya. Matangi word itself has the main element in it --- " Mata" which means thought which in turn relates to an opinion either mental or verbal. Thus the true epitome of Mata/Mother/Maa. She is understood to be the daughter of Sage " Matanga"

Green color- Mercury, Veena/lute- Music,
Lotus- Knowledge and be serene, goddess
of extra ordinary learning, spiritual instruction
For me her significance is greater than her original meaning or powers or energies, especially due to the association of the word " Chandalini". In Indian society " Chandal" is a person who does the work of burning the dead bodies /funeral worker, which is looked down upon and form one group of the Untouchables or Outcastes. In olden times as per rules Shudras/Outcastes were the ones to eating left overs. Interestingly Matangi is also referred to as "Chandalini" , the reason being " Chandali" the frontal nadi in Kundalini practices which flows from tip of the tongue to the tip of the genitals and the practice of upward flow of sexual energy ( hara chakra) to spiritual energy ( third eye chakra) , this in turn burns the materialistic identity to a state of enlightment / greatness. This is like how the Chandal burns the physical body similarly the "Chandali" burns the association of one with Physical Identity to Higher self.

Since for this practice it is said one needs a guru hence one takes the knowledge left over from the guru as ones own hence " association of Matangi with Left Over". This is also in every practice we listen to the instruction of a guru " speech" and take his speech/left over from his knowledge as our own. It is this used/left over knowledge which we combine with ours and make it innovative or personal experience. Thus we mimic our guru /copy.
Ham is the beej mantra, balance
throat chakra by sky blue color

Another interesting aspect is Mata " Matangi" being referred to as Ucchishta-being the greater touch, as she is believed to have touched the lips of shiva and hence the bliss. This Ucchista Matangi- Bestower of all boons/true enlightment. All this is opposite of the normal protocols associated with Gods/Goddess.

Mata Matangi is supposed to rule the throat chakra which governs speech and true expression from our hearts. The ultimate residue or representation of who we are is by our throat chakra- Divine Truth. This chakra is inturn related to vibration - and Matangi also relates to the vibration of each nadi/nada. Matangi is also referred to as Mantrini ( again throat chakra) which is ucha- aran/speaking of each mantras hence helping us to communicate with inner self and Gods- again an element of Throat Chakra.
Matangi rules all kind of expressive occult powers, counseling, teaching, communication, music.

Understandings from Mata Matangi

Matangi Mudra
  • Nothing /No one is outcaste we are all in some ways the same
  • Wordly identity will burn someday and your true self will be revealed to you in some ways
  • Doing an act which is against the societal rules but is acceptable to self is representation of one's true expression and oneness.
  • The parrot represents- represents the true nature of the world, one cannot escape one's acts, what goes around comes around.
  • Music not means pleasure /pleasing to hear but also that we need to instil harmony within ourselves and ignore or remove the noise around and be in harmony.
  • The Third eye is representation that we must use our inner knowledge for any action we take, its more than what meets the eye
  • This one is ofcourse diffiult--- Speak the truth and only the truth, your words should bring everything into harmony.
  • Worship of Matangi will allow one to speak the words of SHiva--  true words which serve all". Sometimes it is important to take the untruth out of some people for greater good. Hence Vishikaran comes into picture, but its the practitioner who has to understand the higher good in this.
For practice- Matangi Mudra- Inner Harmony and rulership

Fold your hands in front of the manipura chakra/stomach and point both middle finger and interlace them together. Direct your attention towards the stomach area for 5 minutes. This resolves inner tension/conflicts, improves digestion, relieves tension in jaw areas, calms the heart, front and back solar plexus chakra.

Please give in your inputs on Matangi Mahavidya.

beejakshara mantra Baglamukhi Mahavidya

Baglamukhi --- the protector
Pitambara Vidya Devi or more famously known as  "Baglamukhi Mata" is one of the 10 Mahavidyas. She is oftern referred to as the "Goddess who paralyses the enemies".
Baglamukhi meaning " restrained face/mouth" inturn meaning hypnotic power of the face/indivual - in short ability to control and capture the other. Baglamukhi Mata is associated in tantrik practices especially worshipped to destroy enemies. She has a golden complexion and is dressed in yellow she sits in a throne in the midst of an ocean of nectar full of yellow lotuses. A crescent moon adorns her head.

Significance of Baglamukhi-
Manifestation tale- In the Satyuga era once the whole world was threatened by a terrific cycle. Lord Vishnu was worried about the safety of the world so he went to a lake reservoir in Gujrat to please the Goddess, Pitambara Mata then appeared and controlled the powerful current of the flood and destructive nature.
Further more she is also a form of Laxmi ( spouse of Vishnu) alos granting prosperity, wealth, attraction.

She is the source of all knowledge in tantra practices . She is both the source of delusion and release of delusion. She is also the source of visible and invisible universe/world. Baglamukhi sadhna though these days used mainly for decreasing power of enemies, protecting oneself and controlling enemies or maybe harming others but in earlier days it was for deep spiritual purpose.

Spiritual Purpose is mainly to be on the right path to control kam, krodh, lobh, moh ( lust, anger, greed, attachment/ego). The sadhna is mainly to control thoughts and kill/cut delusion and thereby having clarity of what to do.

Chakras & Meditational significance-
She is associated with the lower two chakras, especially the svadhistan/hara chakra. Hence yoga or practices of clearing the hara chakra greatly help. Each goddess has another goddess attendant-- so for baglamukhi- bhuvaneshwari mata is the counterpart. Here Baglamukhi mata is the inner light which one  meditates on and thereby balances the breath which enters the silence of the self . This helps to view things from a higher perspective. By Meditation on self which involves control ;one sees things from a higher consciousness and understands that the a) outside is reflection of the inside, so if one is calm, protected, powerful within the external reflects the same ( though some karmic, balancing is needed) and or b) the external is forever changing its the internal which has to be sthir ( stable) or stambh ( silent) and hence unmoved by any happenings.   The inner growth and manifestation is baglamukhi's blessing and external /material growth /maya is bhuvaneshwari's blessing.

In terms of kundalini practices-- the mantra of baglamukhi mata is highly used for increasing the vibration of lower chakras, esp hara chakra. The coiled serpent energy is usually eaten up or consumed at the hara chakra level so this mantra helps to move it up from the hara chakra.
Since she related to energy and indivual power , she too is associated with planet mars/mangal. Thus for reducing afflictions, obstacles, enemies  her pooja/prayer is performed and beneficial ( not to be mixed with being Baglamukhi Sadhak).

Baglamukhi Mantra- ( adviced to be done as per the instructions by the guru)
"HRING BAGLAMUKHI DEVYAYAE NAMAH".
"HRING BAGALAMUKHI SARVVADUSHTANAM VVACHANMUKHAM PADAM
STAMBHAYA JIHVA KILAYA KILAYA BUDDHI VINAASHAYA HRING SWAHA"

Learning from Baglamukhi Mata-

  • Be silent and seek wisdom from inner self-  opening of throat chakra
  • To turn ignorance into knowledge- opening of third eye
  • To turn lack of self awarenss to power- opening of manipura chakra
  • To see with death in life ( emotional/mental/spirtual death)- to see how death of a relationship helps to see oneself in higher light- opening of hara chakr
  •  To see the dualities and balance them (yin/yang)- Opening of Hara chakra
  • To burn the anger into balance and creative - Opening of root chakra
  • To turn fear into security - Opening of root chakra
  • To know that thoughts are what balance the action-- good and bad , life and death, happiness and crappiness are just dualities of the same thing ( two sides of the coins)
  • Do no unjust to others by any means
  • Always respect women ( young/old) as the maha shakti always resides in women.
  • Mata is seated at the mount corpse- which means death -- death of self, enemies, uncontrolled power etc.
  • Not to speak the eternal truth from within.

Mudra Associated with Baglamukhi-
Varuda Mudra- Boon Granting Mudra- The left had is used, the palm uppermost and fingers pointing downwardsAdditionally Abhaya Mudra is also associated.

This is my understanding so far of Baglamukhi Mata, please share your of understanding in anyways way of the Mata, it would be nice to know :)

beejakshara mantra Muldhara and Chinnamasta Devi

Recently have been interested in reading up material and books on Tantra - Hinduism and Buddhism. However last few days have interested in reading on the "Mahavidyas" of the Tantra world.

Heruka= Wheel
Mahavidyas are the ten forms of the Kali Mata herself of which apart from Kali, Tara and Chinnmasta form major group of the Kali energies. The ten forms are wisdom devis, wisdom can be from gentle, sattvic work/attitude to Tamasic or harsh or dark forces. So at the end of it all merges and becomes one.

Of all the 10 forms,Chinnamasta is quite interesting form, she is "SELF Decapitating" devi who depicts self-sacrifice ... I have somehow associated her with Avalikoteshara ( form of buddha- who self sacrifices inorder to uplifts ) but has fiery energy of Purshuram and Narasimha ( form of Vishnu). However in Buddhist she is related Vajrayogini Devi.

Her Self sacrifice is also related to awakening of the Kundalini Shakti which resides in the Muldhara /Root Chakra , the uncoiled serpent energy of the Shakti. The energy of Chinnmasta has the sexual energy, life, self destruction , danger elements of which are more like Muldhara up to the Svadisthana chakra, So her energies are mainly associated with the lower two chakras. The red color of the devi is the muldhara color. She is alone workshipped only by the Tantrik/Tantrikas under strict guru instructions.

Since Chinnamasta is the icon for Kundalini- the divine spiritual energy. The copulating couple is representing the Kundalini. The coiled energy at the base of the spine  also gets uncoiled during sexual intercourse. The energy flow goes from the base of the spine up till the head. The cut head and blood of the devi depicts the upward kundalini flow which is so strong and energetic that it breaks the vissudhi chakra- i.e: false expression, false words in that process makes the person weak, sad... which thereby leads to energy going all the way up the crown chakra and shattering and transforming the self--- i.e: one is in Transcendence   ( i.e: from the sushmana nadi up to sahasrara).

Another aspect to look at it when the kundalini energy flows all the way when one's pineal gland explodes and one has literally an orgasmic experience the false ego, false expression are no longer in existence, it is transformational-literally arising from owns death.
The three blood streams are nectar again which feed our own consciousness of good and bad residing within ourselves, the shakti then unites with shiva at sahasrara.( The two attendants of the Devi are tamsic and sattvic qualities)
Another interpretation is that Dakini, Varini ( female deities of muldhara), Chinnamasta are ida, pingala & sushmana nadi. Ida ( lunar energy) & Pingala ( solar energy) flows & meets at each chakra point ( like the DNA structure ).

Deeper Meaning
Osho zen tarot- Transformation
  • The self- decapitating is end of false ego, ignorance, expression, desires which are binding and conditioning one.
  •  The ability to live by let go and manifestation of the kundalini energies and gain of supernatural powers. Only by Letting go can we be in the present
  • Death is inevitable- One must die by getting immersed in the action one does
  • Death and Sex are interdependent- sex is for creating new life , that life which will eventually decay and die inorder to feed more life and existence it self.
  • Control of sexual energy which can be channeled by a yogi/yogini for greated spiritual pursuits.
  • Fearlessness of death, not to fear of lust, ego, hurt as they are mere layers of the true nature of the soul.
  • Integrity, accepting oneself in whichever form or state
  • Self- Awakening and Self- enlightenment.
